On the radio? Orff's Carmina Burana. Ohh, you're gonna get it today! Not familiar with the work? It's reeeel heavy. Lots of percussion, big choir screaming "Oh Fortuna" at you It ranks up there with "Born to be Wild" as music not to be listened to while driving, lest your speedometer creep towards the 100 mph mark.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again. The one thing that I cannot tolerate is intolerance. "Christians" are absolutely the worst. Here's a group that walk around with their superior attitude because they are 'saved' and you are not. As they say, "It absolutely drives me mental!" (Best said with a couple of oil cans of Fosters under the belt and an Australian accent.) Spending a while among a a large population of Mormons is bringing this out. I just can't abide by evangelism -- that "either you believe what I do or piss off" attitude What happened to diversity?
Being homosexual, I realize that in a lot of people's eyes, I am just one step above pond scum in the waste of protoplasm scheme. Pond scum does a lot of good, though. it helps to supply oxygen to the little fishies below. Hmmm. I'm thinking that maybe that's my problem. I realize that many people have huge and significant issues with being gay, and that's all right. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, regardless of my standpoint on the issue.
However, when you come on my turf and force your mores and morals on me, I have to make a line in the sand. This comes back to a previous discussion of whether Monica Lewinsky swallowed. Why do I need to know? It's none of my business, nor do I care. I wasn't going down on Bill, was I? In fact, the thought had never entered my mind.
We pause for a bad joke....
Q: What do Monica Lewinsky and a Coke machine have in common?
A: They both have slots that say "Insert Bill Here." hehehehe
Now, what I am about to say will offend many (Hell, if you've been putting up with this rant for this long, you are in contention for the Mike Stivic bleeding heart liberal medal) Consider yourself warned. I feel that there is a strong corroboration between mormonism and nazism. Yup, if Adolph had the foresight to come up with his own religion, I think it would be about the same as the Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter-Day Saints (their emphasis) Why? The aim is the same. Modern christianity prides itself on reliance on the gospel (aka Bible) and nothing else. LDS comes along with a "supplement" to the high and mighty work, "Another Testament" penned by one of their own. "Racial Purity" was a goal in the past (and we know how i feel about racial intolerance) with the blocking of non-caucasians from their priesthood. Only whitey can preach the gospel? Adolph tried to create an Aryan race of perfection. The mormons seem to be having a thinly veiled version of that.
I have to give them credit, though. Their church is vital. Change occurs practically overnight. When BYU was having a crappy basketball season, the President of the church decided that it was really OK to allow dark skinned people into the church (and BYU, for that matter.) You can imagine what happened next. Yup, New Orleans lost their NBA franchise and the Utah Jazz was born. That's a coincidence, granted. Phood for the mind, though.
Me? I was raised Catholic, and you know what they say about Catholics.... That's why I think of myself as agnostic now. Maybe Buddhist in thought.
It's just a thought. You have a comment? Send it to me.
